As I went through the chapter, I kind of felt bad for Kangning. She will always have to live in fear, bow in front of the emperor ,and try not to offend him. She can't have a life of freedom like the one I have, which made me feel quite lucky to be here. Just standing there, as others are validated while you are ignored, it must be hard for her too.
And when she said, Some people are born with good fate, even if they say anything casually, it comes true. I felt that. Sometimes I feel, how hard I try things don't seem to go my way. While others seem to have it easy(that might not be the case tho).
But in the end, Kangning is still just a side character living in the main character's world.
And however we feel, life goes on and we should move along too, hoping for the best!

I'd feel sorry for Kangning if she wasn't malicious. She could totally be the main character of her own life if she put her mind on it.

DeleteI agree with Lynda. I'd feel bad for her, but she deliberately goes to pick fights with someone that has done nothing deliberate to offend her.
ReplyDeleteBan Hua may be arrogant, but she doesn't go out forcing young bachelors to be her bethroted, is the other way around, yet they just keep tossing her aside. Even when the belief of that era is that something must be wrong with her (instead of the tossing groom), it is not right nor noble to publicly ridicule her. When Ban Hua retaliates, then they're all cries and self-victimize because despite they may be well educated, they're not as street-smart and dignified as the girl they decided they would belittle just to made themselves feel better.
Kangnin is unfortunate to not be in the Emperor's good side, but she is definitely stupid to keep using Ban Hua as her personal target when she also knows she's the one the Emperor does favor for several different reasons.
